Family wedding gold inventory: a checklist before you speak to your insurer
Organise wedding gold photos, weights, hallmarks and receipts with a simple family inventory checklist.

After a wedding, jewellery often returns to boxes and lockers before its records are brought together. Start with one set while its details are still easy to recall.
A practical checklist
- Give every piece a recognisable name.
- Count the pieces in each set, including pairs of earrings and bangles.
- Photograph the front, back, clasp and visible markings.
- Copy karat and weight from a reliable record; leave unknown details blank.
- Match each receipt or certificate to the right item.
- Record gifts with the history you know, even without an original receipt.
An inventory makes a conversation with an insurer or broker easier, but it does not establish coverage or replace an appraisal. Ask your insurer which documents, valuations and item details it requires.
