Record keeping

Bought gold for a festival or wedding? Log it the same day

Use this same-day checklist to record new gold jewellery photos, receipts, purity and weight after a festival or wedding purchase.

A new piece comes home with its box, receipt and a story. That is the best moment to create its record, before the packaging is put away and the invoice becomes harder to find.

Same-day routine

  • Photograph the complete piece before storing it.
  • Capture the marking and clasp clearly.
  • Copy documented purity and weight from the receipt.
  • Save the invoice beside the correct item record.
  • Record the purchase amount in its original currency.
  • Add the occasion and date if you want to preserve the story.
  • Check that every image is readable before finishing.

If several pieces appear on one bill, give each a separate, recognisable name. For a gift without a receipt, record what you know and leave the rest for follow-up.
